MageQuill Trivia
Get to know us a bit more with these quick and fun facts on #NationalTriviaDay:
- MageQuill is a combination of our passion of books and the love of the internet – cats. We love cats too. They are free, can’t be put in a box and always make you smile.
- The name MageQuill is coined by joining two words: “Mage” which means wizard, and is also a spell-caster in the World of Warcraft universe (which is the actual source, seeing we are ardent gamers), and “Quill”, which can be self-explanatory, but the source was our cat who is named Quill. She loves potatoes and likes to sit looking at you disapprovingly. She was also the reference for the face of The Blue Cat.
- MageQuill started with a cat logo and is trademarked in three different poses: eyes closed, half closed, and fully closed.

- Our youngest team-member is 23 years old, while our oldest is our coyeditor, Hazel, who is 83 and proud of her age. She has worked with 18-year-old Kelsey McRae on her book Indigo Rain, published by our publishing brand Bombadil Publishing.
- Indigo Rain was the first manuscript to be created and edited in MageQuill. Kelsey started writing it back in 2016.
- The name of our publishing brand, Bombadil Publishing, is a reference to Lord of the Rings character Tom Bombadil. Frodo Baggins meets him in the Old Forest in The Fellowship of the Ring. He is jolly and wise beyond his years – something we try to imbibe in our own ethos. We were also quite sad when he was chucked out of the movies.
- We are actually huge LOTR nerds; our “grown-up” publishing brand is called Gandalf Publishing.
- This sheet of paper came out of one of our ideation/brainstorming meetings. We think it is a pretty accurate representation of how experimental we want to be and how much we like to ideate!
- During a branding workshop conducted by our branding consultant James Edenborough, we ended up quite literally covering the office in post-it notes. We think it made for an excellent décor:
