“Streams” and “Dismal” by Sreemay Rath

Ever sat under the roof of your home looking at the silhouettes of the sky pass by? Hoping to cherish it with someone dear, or maybe that poem by Argon you so dearly treasure. Love is found in everything, but to truly love someone means to first start loving yourself.
For a Valentine’s Day read, here are two of my poems that I feel exemplify just that.
Dismal
Streams
From the author...
My name is Sreemay Rath. I am a 17-year-old student of Literature from Ahmedabad, India. I have always been fascinated with the world of literature and the culture it forms and is a part of. It was back in the 8th grade – when I wrote an article for my school magazine – when it struck me that this was something I enjoyed doing; penning my emotions down to paper. It always is an enticing feeling when people connect to what I write. I am a strong believer of the fact that every person has a story to tell. I chose poetry to be the gateway for my thoughts. I landed a three-book deal with Amazon in 2016 where I was one of the writers from India who became a finalist in their talent hunt competition. My fourth book Covetous became an Amazon best selling book. In between writing, I am also a student representative of the United Nations HQ in NYC and a Silicon Valley fanboy. I live inside the Ahmedabad Army Cantonment where I absolutely love going on walks along silent crematoriums and gardens. All the images featured in the poems are from there. For me, it has always been the quiet where I have found my peace. As isolated as it may seem to one, this place provides me with inspiration and the requisite peace that I have always craved for to further my art and love for poetry.
“Dismal” and “Streams” are part of my poetry manuscript To Winter, which I am developing on MageQuill. If you’d like to read it (which I hope you would be interested in doing now!), register on the platform here. On the registration page, choose the option “Select from available classrooms” and select the classroom titled “To Winter Review Board” from the drop-down list!
If you already have a MageQuill account, then head over to Invitations under the Conversations menu on the left. Scroll down to the last section titled “Classroom Membership Request” -> “Select from Available Classrooms”, and select “To Winter Review Board”.
Happy reading!
